Blake International announces it has been awarded a 2018 AEU Safety Award for the
company’s strong commitment to safety in the workplace.

The American Equity Underwriters, Inc., the leading provider of workers’ compensation for waterfront employers, presents the AEU Safety Awards each year to its best performing members nationwide. Eligibility for the awards is based on the frequency and severity of workers’ compensation accidents for the prior calendar year, as well as safety-related metrics determined by AEU’s loss control team.

According to Beau Blake, President and CEO, “Protecting our People and the Environment is a core value of Blake International. Our HSE program emphasizes the importance of training, education, communication, and personal accountability. All of our employees are committed and dedicated to working safely. Our safety culture is prevalent throughout the organization stretching from each and every crew member in the field, to the managers throughout the organization. Everyone understands and agrees that safety is a shared responsibility. We must provide and maintain a safe work environment while continually looking for opportunities for improvement. Every day, we make it our mission to ensure our workers return home safely to their families.”

Included in the Safety Award criteria is the AEU Safety Benchmark®, a proprietary loss control measurement that reflects the major components of a company’s safety management program.

“This year’s winners truly are the safest in the industry,” said Jimmy Burgin, senior vice president and director of loss control at AEU. “The commitment of their management teams, supervisors, safety staff, and employees all combine to create safety programs that are worthy of this recognition.”
